Qu’est-ce qu’un verbe irrégulier en anglais ?

Il n’existe pas de définition claire de ce qui consitue un verbe irrégulier en anglais, il s’agit d’un ensemble de pièges à l’oral comme à l’écrit qui voient certains verbes obéir à des déclinaisons particulières quand ils sont conjugués au passé.

Un verbe irrégulier en anglais se définit par sa particularité à ne pas respecter les régles habituelles de conjugaison des verbes pour adopter une tournure qui lui est propre. S’il est possible de trouver des similitudes entre certains verbes irréguliers, il n’existe pas de régle générale permettant de comprendre leur construction.
